Notes for James Barney Standley:

NOTE: The anscesters of James Barney are conjecture. Joe Walker has a
James b. about 1717 in New Haven Co NC. The ancesters above this James
Barney are the lineage of James from New Haven.
From John Standley Letter:
"Lottie S Bigbee's gr gr grandfather, James Barney
Standley, evidently lived in North Carolina, it may or may not have been
in Surry County, any way, he is supposted to have married a Mahaley
Cauley, and to this union it is known that they had at least two
children, a Jerry (possibly his right name was Jeremiah) and Malicia.
There could have been other children besides these. Jerry was born in
1809 and died at, or about the year 1889, at the ripe old age of 80. I
do not know what happened to Malicia.
Jerry Standley, who is the grandfather of John Standley, also a gr
grandpa of Lottie, married a Matilda Couley. I do not know if this
marriage was before or after Jerry moved to Alabama, as he moved into
Henry County Ala some time in the early part of his life. To this union
were born, I believe ten children, Francis (better known as Chan), Julie,
Betsy, James B Standley, Barney, Needham, Daniel, Kitsy, Jane, Marion,
Sam & John."
