Moses Monroe Maring, son of Samuel and Alma Hall Maring was born in Belmont County, Ohio, October 9, 1849. Departed this life at his home in Exline, Iowa, January 9, 1923. Age 73 years, 3 months. He was united in marriage to Mary A. Hutchison November 2, 1876 and to this union there were born 13 children. One daughter dying in infancy. The living are Zetta Richardson, Mary V. Pugh, Mrs. Joe Pugh and Mae Ryals and Clyde R. all in or near Exline. Olive Hudson, Kirksvilles, Missouri, Kate M. Waggoner, Centerville, Milton B. Maring, Goodland, Kansas, Moses L. and Charles E, Maring, Bird City, Kansas.
Besides the wife and children, he leaves a brother, Silas W. Maring, Albany, Oregon. A half-sister, Mary Hollenbeck, Brewster, Kansas. Twenty-eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn the loss.
At an early age Mr. Maring came to Appanoose County, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. Practically the reminder of his life was spent on a farm in Putnam County, Missouri. He moved to Exline in 1913, where he lived until his death.
He united with the United Brethen Church at Chariton, Missouri, in 1905 and transfered his membership to the Methodist Church in Exline, Iowa 1913 where he continued as a faithful member until God called him to a higher membership in Glory.
Funeral services were conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. O. Evitts, at the Methodist Church in Exline, Iowa, Thursday January 11, at 2:00 p.m. The great gathering more than filled the church and everywhere could be heard the words of commendation on the life of Mr. Maring. His body was laid to rest in the Exline Cemetery.
Dear friends do not grieve because of the going on ahead of our brother, for he said that he had a good time in life, that many joys had been his, and that now he was ready and glad to go. Hearts are heavy with grief only for dear bereaved ones, their loss calls forth our sympathy, and May God Bless and comfort them.
