Thomas went to America presumably to join his sister Jane who had gone circa 1870. He worked in a slaughter house 'Up the Merrimack River', Boston, Massachusetts.
Thomas married Margaret McAuliffe at St David's RC Church, Cardiff on the 11th August 1877. His address on the marriage certificate was 12 Lewis Street.

On the 30th December 1891 Thomas registered his father's death and their address was given as Pullclose (Perclose) Farm, St Andrews.

Thomas was a plasterer by trade, he plastered the houses at Treharne Road, Barry prior to renting number thirteen. He also plastered the ceilings at Duffryn House, St. Nicholas. Duffryn House was built in 1893 for the ship owner John Cory.

Thomas liked to drink and gamble. Johanna Collins remembered him being a tall man and keeping a youg ram named Billy.
Thomas died at home, 13 Treharne Road, on the 8th September 1927 of Hemiplegia (stroke) and arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries).
The funeral service was held at St Helens RC Church, Barry. Thomas was buried at Merthyr Dyfan Cemetery, Barry, Grave Space O480, on the 12 September 1927. His wife was later buried with him. There is no headstone. To find the grave enter the cemetery and proceed straight up the middle path until you come to the triangular shaped garden of remembrance on your left. Look over to your right and you will see a large angel (Vasili Pandezi's grave) behind this is a sunken grave. Thomas and Margaret are to the right of this sunken grave as you are looking up the cemetery.

Notes for Margaret McAuliffe:
Margaret was born circa 1854 in Cardiff. She was baptised on the 4th June 1854 in St David's RC Church, Cardiff.

Margaret lost two sets of twins and one son in infancy. Margaret's parents may have had a milk round.
According to her marriage certificate of 1877 Margaret was living at Park Place, I am assuming she was in service there.

Margaret lived at 13 Treharne Road from 1892 until her death there in 1936.

Johanna Collins remembered Margaret enjoying a tot or two of whisky and also Margaret's daughters having to perform household chores before going to school.
Margaret was registered blind in later life.

Margaret died at home, 13 Treharne Road of myocardial degeneration and acute bronchitis. Family members say Margaret actually died on the 24th December 1936 but her death was registered on the 25th December 1936. She was buried with her husband at Merthyr Dyfan Cemetery, Barry, Grave Space O480 on the 28th December 1936. There is no headstone. Thomas and Margaret were married by certificate at St Davids RC Church, Cardiff on Saturday 11th August 1877.
Thomas and Margaret both signed the register but their two witnesses, Thomas Goggin (Thomas' brother-in-law) and Mary Donovan (Thomas' auntie) made their mark with a with a cross.

Bill died on the 20th May 1969, age 86. His funeral service was held at St Helens RC Church, Barry. Bill was buried on the 22nd May 1969 at Merthyr Dyfan Cemetery, Barry, grave space Q89. Bill is buried with his wife, Margaret, there is no headstone.

Norah was in service for the Catholic, Irish doctor, P. J. O' Donnell. Doctor O'Donnell arrived in Barry in 1886. His energy and leadership led a vital part in the foundation and developement of St Helens Church. He lived at a house at the upper end of Robin's Lane, Barry.

Norah lived with her husband at 11 Wynd Street, Barry.
Norah left her body for medical research.

Notes for Henry Edwards:
Henry lived with his wife at 11 Wynd Street, Barry. The couple had no children. Henry was a Master in the Merchant Navy on a ship called the S.S. Treverbyn (St. Ives). He died age 47 when the ship was torpedoed during the Second World War on October 21st 1941. His memorial is on the Tower hill Memorial, London. Panel 111.

SS TREVERBYN
A tanker laid down as the 'WAR MAPLE', launched as the 'WAR AIRMAN' and completed as the TREVERBYN in January 1920.
She was owned by the 'Hain Steamship Company' of St Ives and was sent to the bottom by a torpedo from a German submarine, the U-82, on the 21 October 1941 in 51N 19W.

U-82
A Type V11C U-boat laid down in the 'Bremen - Vegesack' yard of 'Bremer Vulcan' on the 15 May 1940 and commissioned on the 14 May 1941.
She completed 3 patrols and served with the '3 Flottille (Training)' from the 14 May 1941 to the 31 August 1941 and with the '3 Flottille (Front boat)' from the 1 September 1941 to the 6 February 1942.
Her successes were :- 9 ships sunk for a total of 53,049 tons and 1 ship damaged for a total of 1,999 tons.
Sunk on the 6 February 1942 during an attack on convoy OS 18, in position 44.10N, 23.52W by depth charges from HMS Rochester and HMS Tamarisk.
Casualties:- 45 (all hands) dead.
Her Commander for the whole of her operational career was Kapitanleutnant Siegfried Rollmann.

Kptlt SIEGFRIED ROLLMAN
Born on the 13 September 1914 in Friedrichshafen, Lake Constance (Bodensee).
Joined the U-Boat service 1934 and promoted to Kapitanleutnant (Lieutenant Commander) on the 1 January 1942, prior to this he had commanded U-82 in the rank of Oberleutnant (Lieutenant).
He went down with his boat on the 6 February 1942, north of the Azores. Returning from 'Operation Drumbeat' (off the east coast of the US) an attack was carried out on an allied convoy during which U-82 was sunk.
