Will of William Davis 1856
South Carolina Anderson
District:
In the
Court of Ordinary,
John
Willingham sworn. He was a near
neighbor to William Davis, dec. about half mile
distant. Mr Davis was taken suddenly with disease
said to be paralysis. Which rendered him helpless pretty much and remained in that condition
for more thatn 2 years. He was frequent by there both
day and night. He knew that Hannah Davis waited on him attentively the wholetime of His illness. Day and night did not think she
had a whole nights rest during the whole time. He had to be lifted out of his
bed and back. Witness states that when he was there he had lifted him and it
was about all he could do. He had to be lifted 10 or 12 times in the course of
the day and night. He would say that his services rendered in taking care of
and lifting him, waiting upon
? him
was a hard and laborious service and that the charge made by Hannah of One
Hundred and fifty dollars was a reasonable charge and that he would not live to
do such service at all.
Mrs. Davis states that her
husband William Davis was confined during his last ? two years and1/2
months.
