Notes for W
ILLIAM WILLIAMSON:
William Williamson was born 10 Jan 1764 in Essex County, VA. He died 28 Nov 1852 in Anderson, SC.

William was born in 1764 in Essex County, Virginia. He enlisted in the
Virginia Militia in 1781. He served one two week tour and three two
month tours. His officers were Captain John Evans, Captain Gatewood, and
Colonel Webb. Sometime after the war, he left Virginia and eventually
settled in South Carolina. At the present time, I do not know if he
traveled alone or with other family members. There are several books
that refer to a William Williamson. In the book "York County, SC -
Minutes of the County Court 1786-1797", by Laurence Wells, on Tuesday
April 15, 1788, the will of Samuel Porter was proven by William
Williamson and William Byers and ordered to be recorded (page 44). This
entry, along with the one referring to land deeds in 1785 are the earliest
known occurances of our ancestor William Williamson. In the Book,
"Pendleton District, S.C. Deeds 1790-1806" by Betty Willie, there are
three Williamson's listed: Andrew, Elijah, and William. Could these have
been brothers?
