Reason may have been spelled "Rezin". There is a service record for Rezin Davis (Ref. BL.WT 586300) National Archives Warrant 586 for 300 acres September 9, 1789 Capt. Rezin Davis of the Maryland Troops. Rezin or "Reason the Elder" followed his brothers and sons into Newberry District, S.C. Rezin married his second wife, Elizabeth Causey, in Barnwell County, S.C. The following are listed as the only known children of Reason Davis: Davis, Major Harmon c.1738 Davis, Vann c.1740 m.Susannah Carey Davis, William c.1742 Davis, Reason Jr. c.1744 Davis, Aaron-Asa c.1746 It appears that Rezin Davis' ancestor was a Thomas Davis (Married to Mary Pierpont). Thomas migrated to the United States from Wales and settled in Maryland sometime after 1600. Thomas and Mary had a son named Richard who had a son named Rezin. Research is continuing in this vein.
