Birth: lst Dutch Reformed Church, Schenectady, christened as "Abram." His
witnesses were Abraham Haver and Geertruy Oostrander.
Marriage: lst Dutch Reformed Church, Schenectady, 6 Dec 1821, Arthur C.M.
Kelly, editor, Marriage Record of Schenectady Reformed Church, 1694-1852,
Schenectady, New York, p. 93. She was described as "of Rotterdam."
Census: At the time of the 1880 FC, he was listed as Abram Leavey, age 79,
retired farmer; wife Margaret 81, daughter Margaret 40, and grandson Howard
were in his household. He stated that his father was born in Germany (U.S.
Federal Census 1880, Montgomery County, Amsterdam, NY, ED 43, p. 20, hh 192.
FHL 1254865).
Census: 1835 State census shows him in Rotterdam, 6 females under 16, 4 acres,
2 cattle, 2 hogs, and reports they had manufactured 15 yards of wool and 25
yards of cloth (Rotterdam, Schenectady, NY, p. 3, FHL 0503206).
Census: 1855 State census lists Abraham Leavy, 54, Margaret, 57, wife;
Margaret, 21, child; Jenett, 20, child; John, 15, child; and Agnes, 13, child.
Census: 1865 State census lists Abram Leevy, 64, b. Schenectady; Margaret M.,
66; Margaret, 26, child; John, 23, child; and Agnes, 20, child. They were
living in Amsterdam on a 150-acre farm valued at $8,000. They had had 10
children (1865 NY State census, Montgomery, Amsterdam, 2nd E.D., p. 43, FHL
479195).
Burial: Green Hill Cemetery, Amsterdam, NY. Margaret Levey (either his wife or his daughter) bought the cemetery plot in Dec 1881, probably for him (copy of deed provided by Winifred Massey Tillotson, Fayetteville, NY, 16 Sep 1997).

Death: Gravemarker, Greenhill Cemetery, Amsterdam reads: "Margaret Levey, died
31 May 1884, 86 years."

Parents: He was the son of John J. and Rachel Dorn French.
Occupation: First employed on Erie Canal packets; next worked for
Utica-Schenectady Railroad; later, for 40 years, on NY Central Railroad at
Hoffman's Ferry as agent, postmaster, switch tender, etc.
Birth place: 1855 State census, Schenectady, FHL 0503207, gives his place of
birth as Montgomery.
Death-burial: Beukendaal Chapter, DAR, Tombstone Records of the First Reformed
Church of Rotterdam, New York, 1934.
Census: 1865 New York State census shows them in Glenville; Alonzo 42, born
Montgomery, station agent; Elizabeth, 43, b. Schenectady; Jay C., 12; Martha,

58a. She died of bronchitis; was 83 at time of death. In the family plot are
the remains of Earl M. Hoffman, 29 Apr 1918; Ruth Hoffman Freeman, 3 Feb 191,
William M. Hoffman, 26 Jul 1933, and John McClumpha, Aug 1855. The Dailey ms.
states that Hannah's husband William Hoffman was first buried in Green Cemetery
and then moved to Vale Cemetery -- but there is no record of that.

Census: At the time of the 1850 FC she was shown in the household of William
Hoffman and her sister Hannah; Catherine's age was given as 23. She is listed
in the same census in the household of her parents with an age of 17. The
State census for Schenectady, 1855, gives her age as 27 (FHL 0503207).
Death-burial: Vale Cemetry records in possession of compiler. She was 79 at
time of death; she died of pleurisy. She is buried in Section G, lot 58. Also
buried there are her husband John McClumpha and sister-in-law Eliza.
No children; line ends.

  Notes for DINAH LEVEY:
Birth/death: W.N.P. Dailey, "Levey-French-Hoffman-Dorn" ms, 1937, Donald
Keefer collection, Schenectady, NY, in possession of compiler. 1850 FC puts
her birth in 1834 which seems compatible with her marriage in 1852. However,
Vale Cemetery records give her age as 32 at death, thus born 1828. The 1855 NY
State census reports her age as 25, thus born about 1830.
Death-burial: Vale Cemetery records in possession of compiler. Those records
show her death as 24 Dec 1860. They state she was the daughter of Abraham and
Margaret Levey and that she died of consumption. She was first interred in the
vault at the First Dutch Reformed Church. That record also says she was 32
when she died.

15 Jun 1908, at the age of 81, and is buried in the Consault plot, Bll, Vale
Cemetery.

1889.
Name: Burial records give her name as "Maggie."

called "Aggie." Both the 1850 and 1860 FC place her birth as about 1839.



Notes for ISAAC J. DE GRAFF:
Birth estimated. After Aggie's death, Isaac married Marian Laffaree or Laffray
of Amsterdam and had a child Mildred born Jan 1891 (1900 FC, Amsterdam,
Montgomery, NY, ED 80, sheet 7).
He was a hardware merchant in Amsterdam and
deceased by 1939.
