!found on 1850 Dallas Co census Birth information from Jeannie Hicks researcher. Also listed with children on Military records of Polk Co Mo. Brackett dropped the second "D" in his name in 1830 due to a mistake in his Military records. Also listed in the DAR Patriotic index Brackett was a farmer and served in the War of 1812 under General Jackson. On the evening of 23 Dec. 1814, at or near New Orleans being engaged in a battle with the enemy, Bracket Davison recived a ball in his left hand incapacitation him for military duty and he was honorably dis- charged on 14 March 1815 at Nashville Tenn. and his invalid Pension was to begin 17 Dec 1815. He had served as a private in Capt. James McMahan's company and Col Dyer. About the year 1833 Brackett moved his family from Murrey County near Duck River, Tennessee, to Missouri and bought a claim of Mark Reynolds north of Blue Mound in Polk County, (Mark Reynalds being one of the first settlers of this part of the country and settled and improved this claim in 1831 and lived there one year and sold it to Bracket Davison) They lived here until the year 1851, then moved to his farm about a mile and a half south of Charity, Missouri, in Dallas County. On this farm he lived until his death September 29 1863. He was buried at the Atteberry Shed Christian Church which was organized principally by himself Charley Davis and Wash Atteberry, and was a strong organization until the civil War. He was very loyal to his church until his death. He was the owner of ten slaves.
