"Doc" Stidham was admitted to the bar June 16, 1873 in Cherokee County, Kansas. He was a medical student in the office of D.B. Crouse in 1873-1874 in Labette County, Kansas. He enrolled as militiaman on April 1, 1865 and served 4th ward regiment of Missouri Militia. He was commissioned Registrar of the Courts for Benton County, Arkansas for two years by the Governor of Arkansas on August 8, 1872. He was registered to practice medicine in Carroll County on December 10, 1881.
He was only five feet, five inches tall and was from the old school of country doctors. If a patient couldn't pay, he would accept garden produce, poultry, meat or anything of value or else it was "on the cuff". He died May 1930 at Pleasant Ridge, Arkansas. He is Burried at Oak Hill Cemetery near Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Reference: Grace Stidham and Leona Martin.
