County Record Book Three, Rowan County shows Robert Barkley as juror from January 25, 1770 through 1771. Also was appointed constable 1771 "in room of" (replacing) Moses Cox. On August 9, 1771, a case: James Willison vs, Robert Barkley. Evidence was Alexander Martin. September 27, 1771, Robert Barkley was ordered to have letters of administration on estate of John Freeman, deceased. Security: Harmon Butner and Henry Strange for 60 ?
November 3, 1770 Ordered that a grist mill erected on north side of the Yadkin River by Robert Barkley be recorded as a public mill, and that he may dam the water for that purpose.
February 12, 1791 Deed from the Executors of Robert Barkley to Lewis Beard for 100 acres on February 12, 1791, is acknowledged. Book 12, page 268. On February 12, 1791, Benjamin and Peter Todd (as executors of the will of deceased Robert Barkley) let Lewis Beard have 100 acres next to John Davis and Robert Shipton on the east side of th Yadkin River about Bald Mountain for 117 pounds. Witnessed by David Woodson and Charles Harris.
