Here Lies Ye Body of Thomas Ball, Decd Octr Ye 18tth 1744
In Ye 57 year of his Age
Here lies an Aged Man of 4 years old.

Beloved Wife and Children dear,
Remember now I am gone.

THOMAS BALL 1687 - 1744

Sixth child, fourth son of Edward and Abigail Blatchley, he was born in
Newark, N. J. About 1710 he married Sarah Davis. He was a blacksmith by
trade and he served as constable of Newark in 1715 and 1716.

About 1718 he moved to a tract of land he had bought between Hilton and
Jefferson Village (now Maplewood, N, J.). There he lived until his death
on December 18, 1744. His wife lived to be eighty-seven.

Timothy. a tanner (born 1711, died 1758, married Esther Bruen)
Aaron, a blacksmith (born 1713, died 1752, married Hannah Camp)
Affia (born 1715, died 1760, married Simon Searing
Nathaniel, a blacksmith (born 1717, died 1781, married Esther Osborn).
Ezekiel, a carpenter (born 1721, died 1810, married Mary Jones),
Jonas, a cooper (born 1723, died 1787, married Hannah Bruen),
Mary (born 1726, died 1817, married first John Bruen, a sailor lost off Newfoundland,
second Thomas Longworth Esquire),
Rachel (born 1728, died 1750. married Samuel Headly),
David (born 1729, died 1789, married first Phebe Brown, second Joanna Watkins),
Thomas, a lawyer (born 1731, died 1806, married Mary Crane),
Amos, "deficient mentally, a wanderer (born 1733, probably survived about 40 years) and
Moses (born 1735, died 1775, married).
