1. EDWARD¹ FURNEVEL was born Abt. 1820 in Montgomeryshire, Wales, and died 24 Apr 1891 in Low Row, South Wingate. Buried 26 April 1891 at Holy Trinity, Wingate Grange.. He married MARY MIDDLETON Aug 1844 in Stoke on Trent (Wolstanton) Staffordshire, daughter of THOMAS MIDDLETON and SARAH BARLOW. She was born Abt. 1816 in Shelton, Stoke on Trent, Staffs., and died 13 Aug 1880 in South Wingate aged 64 years. Buried 15 August 1880 at Holy Trinity, Wingate Grange.

See William FURNEYVAL baptised 6 February 1820 at Llansaintffraid yn Mechan, Montgomeryshire, Wales son of William Furneyval and Margaret. Also Jane FURNIVAL baptised 10 February 1811 and Mary FURNIFAL baptised 29 July 1827 - both at Llansaintffraid yn Mechan to William Furniv(f)al and Margaret . These could be Edward's siblings. William above could also be the one shown on 1881 census RG11/2807/104/2 aged 61 years as an attendant at an institution/workhouse at Wolverhampton.

1861 Census at New Row, Haswell - 41 yrs miner with wife Mary 45 and children William 16, Hugh 13 - both miners - and Louis 6 yrs. Also Sarah Shipley niece aged 14 yrs born Shelton, Staffs. Surname shown as Gurnerel on Ancestry.com and Gumeaval(Gurneval) on Durham Records Online.

Marriage certificate shows Edward Furnavall son of John Furnavall married 27 July 1844 at St Margarets, Wolstanton to Mary Cardwell daughter of Thomas Cardwell (was this her father in law ?). Witnesses were James Shipley and Hannah Shipley.
