Hi Folks Welcome to my homepage,as my page name indicates my families are of the garden variety dyed in the wool southerners. They are mostly white trash with a few princes and kings thrown in to keep me humble.
I will post most of the more reseached lines as time and space permits,for now I will list some of the families whose shadows I have chased for 25+ years. I hope you find some that match your lines.

    John L Bright was the 3rd child of Rachael Bright and an unknown father. He was born 1860 and died in Texas in 1924. See Family report for more information on this family.

    The photo on the right is My greatgrandparents Samuel J. Bacon and Lucy Sims, she was his 3rd wife. The woman holding the baby & standing in the back is Dollie Cleveland Lucy's sister the 2 very blond children in the front are hers. Picture on right is the Civil War photo of Harvey Bacon's three son's Thomas Steward, Bailey Marion and standing in the back William Henderson Bacon. They served in Stan Watie's Mounted Cherokee Reg.     This photo was taken 1896. J. L. was born in Tx near Gonzales Aug 1836 just after the Texas Rev. Martha Ann was a young widow with small children when they were married.
  • Mary Allen .b.1814 Chickasaw/Cherokee d.I.T.1876 (7 KB)
    Mary Allen was the daughter of mixed blood Cherokee John R Allen who was a trader on the Miss. from New Orleans to the Indian Nations along the Miss. Her mother was Chickasaw her name was Catherine she was probably one of Thomas Love's fullblood wives daughter. She married Harvey Bacon in Shelby Co TN the site of the Chickasaw Bluffs, now Memphis in 1831. She died Nov 7,1876 Bacon Springs I.T.

    Lucy Bright Murray was child of Rachael Bright, she certainly show her Cherokee heritage in this photo. b 1875 d. 1955

    This is Frances Isabella Lisenbe and 2 0f 3 living children about 1874.

    Mary Elizabeth Brown, daughter of Andrew "Andy" J. Brown and Anney Plumle
  • Henry Bellah, Sevred in 13th Al in CW (11 KB)
    This is my greatgrandfather Henry Bellah, He served with the Randolph Co. Mountaineers part of the 13th Al. in the Civil War he was wounded twice at Gettysburg.

    This is Rachael Bright's oldest child.

    This is the younger members of the Williams family, My greatgrandmother Molly had married by the time this picture was taken and yes looks like the children are barefooted I love this picture my poor gggrandmother Sarah's face shows the trouble and hard life she lived.

    This is the only daughter of Elijah Tate and Sarah "Sally" Sowell.
  • Wagon Trail Leaving Ok.1927 for West TX (35 KB)
    This is the day that the Tate's and Bacons left Bryan Co Okla for West Texas. Very Cool Picture!!
