Gamblin Family Album by Sharon Pace states that tradition says that the Gamblins sailed for America in 1634. They came with an in-law who received a land grant from the King of England. It is also believed through tradition that the Gamblin family may have been descendants of Robert Bruce, King of Scotland. Stories were told of the fine silver, china, and crystal that they brought to America. These were destroyed by fire long before they left North Carolina.
