He married LUCY PARKER July 21, 1794 in Halifax County, Virginia, daughter of WILLIAM PARKER. She was born Bet. 1770 - 1780, and died October 1845 in Smith County, Tennessee.

Miles was ordained a minister at the Hunting Creek Baptist Church in 1803 in Halifax Co., VA.
He first lived on Dixon Creek, when he arrived in 1805 in Smith Co., TN. He was the third pastor of Dixon Creek Baptist Church. In 1811 he resigned as pastor and moved to Defeated Creek, where he became pastor of Salt Lick Baptist Church. In 1837 he constituted a new Association at Cedar Creek Church, known as Round Lick Association it was given the title of Primitive Baptist.
