Descendants of Henry Stephens


4. HENRY6 STEPHENS (HENRY5, NICHOLAS4, THOMAS3, EDWARD2, HENRY1) was born 20 November 1681 in Stonington, Connecticut, and died 1726. He married ELIZABETH FELLOWS 02 March 1708/09, daughter of EPHRAIM FELLOWS and ANNA CROSS.

ENRY STEPHENS:
Henry Stephens was born at Stonington, Connecticut, November 20, 1681 (Town Records), and was baptized in the Congregational Church February 18, 1693. He settled in Plainfield, Connecticut. He married March 2, 1708/9, Elizabeth Fellows, born in Ipswich, Massachusetts, Septemeber 14, 1685, the daughter of Ephraim and Anna Fellows.

Mr. Stephens returned to Stonington and was living there in 1715. He, with other inhabitants of the North Society of Stonington, obtained Februaryb 5, 1721/2, permission from the Governor and Council of Connecticut to build their Meeting House at the Gravel Nole. HE was living January 16, 1749/50, when he gave a deed of land to his daughter, Elizabeth Stewart. His wife Elizabeth, was admitted to the North Stonington Church June 16, 1741.

  Notes for THANKFUL STEPHENS:
Thankful Stephens/Stevens the second wife of Zebulon Stephens/Stevens, was first married to James Partridge December 24, 1744, at North Stonington, Connecticut. He removed to Canaan, Connecticut, and had a farm adjoining that of Zebulon Stevens. Mr. Partridge died June 4, 1771.

  Notes for ZEBULON STEPHENS:
Zebulon Stephens/Stevens was born at Plainfield, Connecticut February 25, 1717. He was of Canaan, Connecticut June 21, 1743. November 25, 1743, he married Miriam, daughter of Ephraim and Mary Fellows, who was born at Plainfield, Connecticut, April 2, 1726, and died at Canaan, May 25, 1773. Mr. and Mrs. Stephens were members of the Congregational Church.

Zebulon Stephens/Stevens married, second, October 13, 1773, Thankful (Stephens) widow, of James Partridge. She died February 29, 1812, and Zebulon died July 4, 1814. He was a farmer.

LIZABETH STEPHENS:
Elizabeth Stephens, was born at Stonington, Connecticut, and baptized in the Congregational Church February 18, 1693. She married Henry Eliott. On July 6, 1725, Henry Stephens Sr., of Stonington, conveyed to his son-in-law, Henry Eliott, and to "my loving daughter Elizabeth Eliott, his wife both of Stonington," a certain tract of land near Jessupsuk's Pond, and July 2, 1741 a confirmatory grant was made to Henry Eliott late of Ceribussitt, and to the heirs of Elizabeth Eliott, deceased, of the tract above mentioned, by Henry Stephens and Henry Stephens, Jr.

The records of the children of Elizabeth Stephens and Henry Eliott are taken from deeds conveying their rights to the premises "formerly laid out to our Grandfather, Henry Stephens".
