The very first record of the family name DAVIS was found in Flint , which is located in Wales. The DAVIS family traces their ancestral roots back to Welsh origin before the year 1100. From here they branched and migrated, our trace though goes to Ireland and I doubt we will ever trace back to Wales from here. The name Davis in Ireland is often of Welsh origin having been brought to the country by settlers who located in all four Provinces but especially in Leinster and Ulster. Several native Gaelic Septs have used Davis as the Anglicized version of their name including the McMurroughs of County Wexford and the MacDaibhaids in Ulster.
