Notes for Peter Grant:
While still living on the Leeds farm, built the Old Reformed Church, still standing at Leeds (1926). In building operations in those days, the nails used were of wrought iron, hammered out by hand. He hammered out with his own hand the nails used in nailing on the trim. He also hammered out the door fixtures on the same building.

  Notes for James A. Grant:
He was Captain of the Old Plaid Light Infantry of the 87th Regiment of the State of NY. The company headquarters were at Hobart [NY]. Most of the men were of Scotch [sic] birth. Their dress was plaid coat and white pantaloons, with the usual infantry rifle of the time. It is said that Captain Grant was proud, precise and handsome.
