Notes for George Sutton: On 18 September 1634 the Reverend John Lothrop, with some thirty membersof his congregation from Egerton in county Kent, England, arrived in Boston on the "Griffin" and on the 27th traveled on to Scituate, where they joined other "men of Kent".
In 1635 another group from Tenterden, Kent, England, emigrated to Scituate. The former mayor of Tenterden, Nathaniel Tilden, brought his family and a number of servants, including George Sutton.
Within two years, George Sutton and Thomas Lapham, both servants of Tilden, married daughters of Tilden. George Sutton married Sarah Tilden.
There are a number of records of land transactions in Scituate involving George Sutton, and records of his house being built in 1636 (the year he married). But some years later, his former house was leased (Joseph Tilden leased it to a tenant family). What happened to George Sutton?
