I am primarily researching the Coons family, originally from the Coleman, Michigan, area, with a likely Canadian connection (Ontario) prior to this. There is also a possible but remote French Basque connection, although I cannot establish a link to this. The name Coons itself is more Germanic, yet my dad told of his father's speaking a pidgen French with his sibs and a grandmother (Ida Thorington) who often read a French-language newspaper.
I cannot find information prior to Erwin Coons (my great-grandfather), b. 1859, d. 1913.
Pictures of other family members, both paternal and maternal, are included here. Please feel free to write me with any of your comments, corrections, etc. Discovery is an ongoing process!
