I am researching the surname "Dirksen". My great-grandfather John Dirksen emigrated from Emden Germany in 1880 and went directly to Iowa in the area of Ackley. He married Tena Jurgens in February 1882 in Ackley. Before he emigrated, he had served 3 years in the German army. He was born in 1856, died in 1945 and is buried in the Nevada cemetary in Nevada Iowa. My grandfather, Cornelius was his oldest son, and my father John was Cornelius' oldest son. My great grandfather John Dirksen was the father of ten children: Cornelius, Rhinehard, George, Henry, Anna, Margaret, Elizabeth, John, Herman and Ole. I am particularly interested in finding out which ship he emigrated on and any information about he or his family in Germany, including living relatives today.
Also would be interested in any information about Tena Jurgens. She emigrated with her parents in 1875. She had one brother, Jerry and one sister, Mrs. Albert Lolling of Kansas. This is all the information I have on either of my great grandparents.
