| The Day family has been traced to Bristol, Somerset, England in the early 18th Century. My great great grandfather, Bartholomew George Smith Day, was an officer in the Royal Navy, and was present at the Battle of Trafalgar in the Revenge as a Midshipman. He and his 15 year old son went to British Guiana in 1822. In approximately 1912, the family came to Canada. The family started out in the Maritimes, and spread across Canada; my father, Charles Fowler Day, went to Mexico with the Bank of Montreal, where I and my brothers were all born. In addition, we have considerable information on the McKean and Ross families of Nova Scotia, my wife's ancestors. There is much less information on the Elliot and Rosas Landa families of England and Mexico, my mother's people. |
