My genealogy research focuses mostly on my father's ancestors, who for the most part were farmers in the area around Browningsville, Montgomery County, Maryland. I have recently also obtained information on my mother's Slayton family. Family names include: DAY WALKER BEALL PURDUM MARK LEWIS BOYER KING BROWNING When I was in high school in 1957, I published a mimeographed booklet called "The Story of the Maryland Walker Family." At the time I was naive enough to think there was only one Maryland Walker family! I sent a copy to the Library of Congress, and it's still in their catalog. In 1975 I published "James Day of Browningsville and his descendants: A Maryland Family", in which I traced my great-great grandfather's life, 3 wives, 18 children, and over 2000 descendants I was able to track. I maintain databases of Maryland Bealls, Days, Walkers, and Lewises before 1800. The Beall database is the largest and is in Wordperfect 5.1, however it can be converted easily by your MS Word program. The others are smaller and are in MS Word. They represent my efforts to collect as much information as I can in the hopes that eventually something will connect with my ancestors! The databases are available to anyone who wants --send me an email and I'll email the DB back to you as a file attachment. The Beall DB files total over 1.5 meg. |
