Welcome to my Genealogy Web Site.I set this site up as a way of preserving and centralize the information I've compiled so far on my different family lines.I'm hoping that relatives from the different branches might see the information of their family line and help me add new information or correct any discrepancies that I might have.I'd be happy to hear from you. With you help, I'll be able to learn more about the many lines in my family tree. I'm currently concentrating on the MEAD line because I made a mess of my file by merging 3 different trees.I am also working on my DOUW/DOW Project of NJ, NY State and NYC.In order to find my Irish DOW line, I need to finish the Dutch “DOUW” since they were here 200 years or so before the other DOWs and breed and spread all over NJ and NYC and lower NY State before some of them moved west. Since there are so many origins of DOWs in NJ, I'm typing up all the DOWs in Excel by counties. We have DOWs from Ireland, Scotland, England, Germany, Italy, Denmark, and Holland (The Netherlands or The Dutch Republic) living in NJ, NYC and lower NY State. What I'm using is the census index for each year in NJ, in order to figure out who belongs to whom. I'm entering the following info... listing families by Census Year and County; Birth & Baptism and where; Death and where; Burial (if available); Marriage and where; and Spouse. Eventually I'll add a War Service column and hyper links where available. I'm also using the available City Directories, when available. With the guide I'm typing up, it will help you narrow it down to a specific line and origin. I am looking for any DOWs located in New Jersey and MORSE’s located in the Catskill Mountain region of New York State Dutchess and Delaware Counties.I believe the MORSE’s originated in England. I'm searching two different MEAD lines, one of English origin in NY tied to my MORSE line and one of Dutch origin. The other MEADs were located in Northern New Jersey, originally from Amersfoort, province of Utrecht, The Netherlands (The Dutch Republic)>NYC>NJ.The second MEAD line is from England>MA>CT>NY, Dutchess and Delaware Co., NY. Eventually the two MEAD lines might connect because the Patriarch, John MEAD/MEED (AKA Jan MEET- the name was pronounced MAATE) was from Co. Essex, England, born Abt. 1600.He was a soldier in the regiment of Sir Horatio Vere, who was Lord Vere of Tilbury in 1625.With the alliance of the Dutch and English against the Spaniards, it had resulted in the presence of English soldiers in Holland.Sir Horace Vere's regiment was stationed in Holland from 1599 to 1634. I'm also researching my Great-grandfather, Michael C. DAY.He came from Ireland in 1882 (I believe this was the second time he came from Ireland), possibly from County Kerry and lived in Paterson N.J.I believe that he and his parents and his brother Nicholas came early (after Michael’s birth) and Michael and Nicholas might have gone back to Ireland after the 1880 census where I lose them until 1900 census. In 1899, he married Mary Elizabeth DOW, who originally came from Hibernia (Which means Ireland), N.J., whom he met in Bloomingdale, N.J. while making a delivery.Around 1907, they moved from Paterson to Bloomingdale, N.J. with their children, Clement Francis, Arthur James, and Louis Joseph.Their daughter Helen had previously passed away in March 16, 1904. My great-grandfather was born in Ireland on May 9, 1862; died March 16, 1914 (10yrs to the day of his daughter); to the parents of Patrick and Mary (nee O'DEA) DAY.They had ten children:Nicholas; Michael C.; Thomas; John; Mary Ann (aka Mamie); Patrick, Jr.; William; Joseph; Frank (Francis); James. I’m working on quite a few projects to keep me sane these past 11 years of disability… I have started some of my MILLER line but I still haven’t started the ROOME line yet. | DAY, O'DEA, DOW, MORSE, MILLER, ROOME, MEAD FAMILY HOMEPAGE Updated July 16, 2010 |
