| Introduction It has been my intention to record the data that has been collected by myself as well as that donated by many family historians. Every effort has been made to be as accurate as possible. Mistakes are a fact of life and I would appreciate notification of any found. Tradition when quoted should be treated as such. This work concentrates on descendants of Christopher Day b. abt 1682 / Mathew/ John/ Isaac / Jonathon Wesley/ Isaac Casper/ Clarence Vernon/ Donald H./ Reginald Day and includes Poe, Stoner, Stillwell, Shenkle, Hale, Stoppelmoor, Paul, Seager, Colclazier, Brittain, Brown, Dyer, Trent and many other allied lines. While this book is an ongoing endeavor, it is hoped the torch will be taken up by future generations. If not for past generations writing of their experiences a work of this magnitude would not have been possible. I have borrowed from other researchers' efforts, gleaned what I could from documentation in census and military records, old family bibles, birth and death records and legends that have been passed down from generation to generation. Our ancestors kept these records. They would write them in longhand and pass them down to there children. I have used these records whenever possible. I have taken substantial records from the book , "OUR AMERICAN PIONEER ANCESTORS, THE DAY, POE AND HENDRIX ALLIED LINES" 1963 by Ruth DeVerter. I would like also to acknowledge the extensive work of Ron Stoner, Gerald Hale, and Joan Hale Price whose data I have used as source material as well as many exerts originating with them. I have tried to document my sources when entering the information. I have used recent technology resources to connect long lost relatives, and in so doing, have said in my own small way, "You are not forgotten, you made it possible for my very existence." A single all encompassing book that can take in all the various lines generating out from this Day line is, I believe an impossibility. I have, where possible gone out a few generations and leave it to others to tie this Day line into there own. I hope in the future others will take up the effort put forth here , add to it their own descendants and thus use this as a foundation in keeping a record of our heritage each in his own way. I have included in this work the Ancestors of all the Day wive's on which I could find data in this line of progression because Ancestors wive's were not considered when considering the descendants of Christopher Day. My wife's (Linda (Dyer) Day) ancestors are only extended out two generations. The extensive data on her ancestors makes it necessary to include them in a separate book. Over 300 photo's on this branch of the Day Family available at http://www.photoaccess.com/share/guest.jsp?Gallery=A4FD5134617&cb=PA My father-in -law Charles Dyer once said that "On a persons tombstone is written their date of birth, a dash, and then their date of death." He said "That dash is what makes all the difference". |
