We are researching the Day family (originating from the Irish Ua Déaghaidh) of New England and the Stevenson family of New England and Prince Edward Island. Other surnames in this tree are Sawyer and Houston. We have little specifics of the Day family, except that an ancestor came from Ireland, probably in the early or mid-1800's to Boston, then migrated to West Virginia. We believe the next generation moved back to Massachusetts. A missing link we are seeking is Judge William Henry Day, who was a Superior Court Judge in Roxbury, Mass around 1910. He was married to Mary Jane Murray and had three children: Nellie, Maude and Ralph. Someone of that family (Ralph's son?) went back to Ireland in the 1960's and traced their roots, bringing back a Coat of Arms. Unfortunately the families of the two brothers, William Henry Day and Harry Edward Day, had a falling out, and the two families are estranged. Bill has early memories of visits with cousins, but at some point that stopped. We would be interested in hearing from anyone with more information from that side of the Day family.

We are also researching the Keller family of early American origins and the Bain family of colonial Pacific origins (Malaya, India, Burma, Australia). Other surnames in this tree are Martin, Light, Wood, and Van Meter. Another missing link is the connection between the Bain family and Captain Francis Light (Abt 1740-1794) of Penang, Malaya. Margy inherited a hand-written family tree, tracing ancestry back to Augusta Victoria Light (1877-1972), daughter of Francis Light II (Abt 1835-1906), and back to the Captain. (See Descendant Tree Report for Francis Light below.) Other researchers have substantiated the descendants of Captain Light to Francis Light II, but then lost track. We are very interested to find more information about Augusta Light, her parents Francis Light II and Janet Jeremiah, and her marriage to George Bain. Any one else with information about this lineage please contact us.
