DeBerg-DeVries and Hanson-Betts Families Home Page

The DeBerg family name is a derivation of the Netherlands Von deBerg. The branch that emigrated to the USA came from OstFriesland, Germany. So far, all DeBerg's I've documented are related to this group.

The St. Clair branch originated in Scotland and started in the USA as "Sinkler". The best source of information on this Branch that I know of is Jean Grigsby.

Connecting surnames include; DeVries, Brown, Tilson, Betts, and White.

The Tilson branch goes back to 1638 (well documented). Other branches go back further but documentation is sketchy and I consider it very unreliable.
