" Old aunt Betsy Cole aged 84 years, the wife of old uncle Jacob Cole age 82, who has been confined to her bed for some time, departed this life on last Wednesday night was a week ago and was enterred at New White Oak Springs church where she chose to be buried, she joined the church at Old White Oak Springs over 20 years ago but from some cause was never baptised, but in her last hours she said was ready and willing to die, and chose to be buried at New White Oak, these two old people lived alone together after their children all left them 15 years and appeared to have great love for each other, she leaves a number of friends besides 3 sons and 4 daughters, and an old bereaved tottering and trimbling over the dead body of his once near and dear friend for the last time in life and said, "farewell, farewell, to the last friend I have, no doubt but what the old gray headed tottering father felt that he was left without a friend, yet he has a friend far superior to a companion who is able to land him safely over the cold icy stream of death into a land of peace where we should all strive and fight to win."
