Notes for Bernice M. Bureiza: Mrs. Bernice M. Longuski, 103, of Bad Axe passed away Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility after a short illness. She was born on Nov. 27, 1897, in Parisville to the late Frank and Rose (Schomack) Brazear. She married Bruno Longuski on Oct. 7, 1919, at St. John Catholic Church of Ubly. He preceded her in death on May 1, 1980. Bernice attended St. Mary's Elementary school in Parisville. She was a parishioner of St. Columbkille since 1935, and is an honorary member of the Christian mothers. She lived in Sheridan Twp. since 1937. She did domestic work locally, picked beans and worked on the family farm until 1958. She enjoyed wintering in Florida, gardening and visiting with family and friends. Bernice is survived by three daughters, Florence Vogler of West Bloomfield, Gladys Pickering of Bad Axe, Eleanor Landra and her husband, Cyril, of Homosassa, Fla.; two sons, Eugene Longuski and his wife, Marian, of Cass City, Jerome Longuski and his wife, Linda, of Bad Axe; 18 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Bruno Jr. in October 1953; one grandson, Billy Pickering in 1960; three brothers; four sisters; two son-in-laws, George Vogler and Tim Pickering. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001, at St. Columbkille Catholic Church of Sheridan. The Rev. Kevin Maksym, associate pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. There will be a Christian Mothers rosary today at 8 p.m. at the Zinger- Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. today and from 8 to 9 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
