I am researching the DEFEVER family ancestry from West Flanders, Belgium, and northern France. Presently, my search reaches only to my greatgrandfather ENGELBERTUS DEFEVER, b.1827, d.1912 in Merkem, Belgium. Engelbertus was probably born in "French Flanders," the northern part of present France. He moved to the town of Merkem, West Flanders, Belgium, and married AMELIA RYCKEBUSCH from the region of Merkem.
They had at least 12 children: Disere, Alois, Petrus, JULES (my grandfather), Marie-Louise, Emilie, Emerence, Leonie,Emma, Cyril, Ortance, and Emile (who lived since 1914 in Lille, France. All were born in Merkem or Woumen.

Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have.
