      2. Charles2 Tilley (Charles1) was born March 10, 1850 in Wales, and died August 11, 1937 in Johnstown, PA. He married (1) Hannah M. Lloyd. She was born 1863 in Johnstown, PA, and died October 29, 1893 in Johnstown, PA. He married (2) Nannie B. Ellifritz March 22, 1897 in Johnstown, PA, daughter of Alfred Ellifritz and Margaret. She was born 1866.

WAS BORN IN WALES

Charles Tilley, 87*, retired miner and janitor of the Conemaugh M. E. Church, died at 7:15 o'clock last evening at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Womer of 237 Third Street, Conemaugh.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the church for which he was janitor for many years to be conducted by Rev. Clyde Nevins, pastor. Interment in Grandview Cemetery will be directed by Carl E. Davis, Conemaugh mortician. Six grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The body will be taken to the Conemaugh church at 1 p.m. and will be on view until the hour of service.
Following many years work as a miner, Mr. Tilley was engaged by the Conemaugh M. E. congregation to care for the church and held that position until six years ago, when he retired on account of age. Born in Wales, March 10, 1850, Mr. Tilley was a son of Charles and Elizabeth (Nash) Tilley and came to this country a young man, locating at Houtzdale. He moved to the Johnstown section in 1891 and had since resided here and in Conemaugh.
Surviving are the following children: Mary, wife of John R. Womer with whom he made his home; Hattie, wife of W. G. Beam of Lorain, O; Helen, wife of John Mishler of Krings Station; Lilly, wife of Albert Waddell of New Florence, and Thomas Tilley of Sell Street, Roxbury. Another daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Harten died several years ago in Detroit, Mich. Twenty-five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive. Charles Tilley was a brother of Albert Tilley of 195 David Street, Dale, the last of a family of 10.
Charles Tilley was a member of the Conemaugh M. E. Church and of Glendale Commandery, Knights of Malta.

Source: Pittston Gazette, Sept. 16, 1889: Born Sept. 13 to Mr. and Mrs Charles Tilley, a daughter. I have not figured this one out. Daughter Hattie was born in 1889 but not in Sept.

TILLEY - In Johnstown, Sixth Ward, at the corner of South and Sherman streets, on Friday morning, September 29, 1893, at 11 o'clock, Hannah Maria, wife of Charles Tilley, aged 30 years 2 months and 23 days. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 3:15 o'clock. Interment will be in Grand View Cemetery.

I have also found her name listed as Hannah Davis in two of her childrens obits.

PRETTY HOME WEDDING
William Beam, of Bon-Air, and Miss Harriet Tilley Married

At the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Beam, near Bon-Air, in the presence of a number of friends and relatives, the marriage of their son, William Beam to Miss Harriet Tilley was solemnized by the Rev. J. Wesley Platt, pastor of the Conemaugh Brethren Church. The hour for the ceremony was set for 8 o'clock, and at that time the bride and groom and the officiating minister marched into the nicely decorated hall to the strains of the wedding march played by Miss Martha Tilley.
After the ceremony those present partook of the sumptuous dinner which had been so successfully planned and arranged by the mother of the groom. Those festivities continued until the clock announced the hour of 11, when the guests began to disperse.
Those present were Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Beam, parents of the groom; Charles Tilley, father of the bride; Mr. and Mrs. Allen Roberts, Mr. and Mrs. David G. Hildebrand and son, David Jr.; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lynch, Mrs. John Hildebrand and daughters Lillian, Helen and Phyllis; Mrs. William Hildebrand and daughter Ethel May; Mrs. John Hinchliffe, Mrs. J. R. Womer and family, Donald Tilley, Helen Tilley, Lillian Tilley, Irvin Custer, Miss Martha Tilley, Mrs. Jane Hildebrand, the Misses Cora, Elsie and Rosie Hildebrand, Dan Hildebrand, Miss Sylvia Batt, Alvin Beam, Mrs. George D. Hesser, of Pittsburgh, and the Rev. and Mrs. J. Wesley Platt of Conemaugh.
The young couple received a large number of beautiful and useful presents. the young man for some time has been employed at Lorain, O.

      3. William2 Tilley (Charles1) was born August 17, 1851 in Wales, and died November 19, 1915 in 17th Ward, Johnstown, PA. He married (1) Elizabeth Steele, daughter of Thomas Steele and Maria. She was born March 01, 1856 in England/Wales, and died October 09, 1945 in Johnstown, Cambria Co., PA.

William Tilley, aged 64, died yesterday at noon at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. William McCreary of Wertz Road, Seventeenth Ward (Walnut Grove), after a long illness of a complication of diseases. The deceased was born in Wales in 1851; being a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tilley. He was one of a family of 20 children, all of whom have passed away except Charles and Samuel of Bon-Air; Albert, of Franklin Borough and Mrs. James John of Houtzdale. William Tilley came to Johnstown soon after the Johnstown flood of 1889. Besides his brothers and sister, Mr. Tilley is survived by six children: Mrs. May Wilson of Schellsburg; Charles of Bon-Air; Mrs. Elizabeth Ann McCreary of Walnut Grove; Mrs. Morris Geiger of New York; Thomas S of the Seventh Ward and Oliver Otis Tilley of the Second Ward. The funeral will take place at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon from the McCreary home, the services to be conducted by the Rev. M. Clyde Horst, pastor of the Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren. Burial will be made in Grandview Cemetery. The funeral will be in charge of Advance Temple, Knights of the Golden Eagle of which Mr. Tilley was a member.

MRS. BOWERS, 89, DIES OF BURNS; RITES THURSDAY

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday for Mrs. Elizabeth (Steele) Tilley-Bowers, 89, whose death yesterday in the hospital of the Cambria County Home, Ebensburg, resulted from burns suffered Saturday morning.
The services will be conducted at the home of Mrs. Bowers ' son, Thomas S. Tilley, 234 Adams St. Burial in Grandview Cemetery will be directed by John Henderson Company. Friends are being received at the Tilley residence.
Following an investigation, Deputy Coroner Ferd Easly of Hastings reported that the woman was scalded when she turned on a hot water faucet while an attendant, bathing her, turned her back momentarily. Shock, superinduced by burns, was ascribed as the cause of death.
Born in England Mar. 1, 1856, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Maria Steele. She was twice married and was preceded in death by both of her husbands. Mrs. Bowers had resided in this city for many years.
Surviving in addition to the son mentioned are a daughter, Mrs. Olive Fox, Detroit, Mich; 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

William H. McCreary and Miss Elizabeth Tilley were married last evening at No. 942 Franklin Street, Eighth Ward, the home of the bride's mother, by the Rev. B. W. Lucenbill, pastor of Trinity Evangelical Church. They were attended by Charles N. Tilley, brother of the bride, and Miss Annie McCreary, a sister of the groom, and the ceremony was witnessed by about fifty Guests. Mr. McCreary is a carpenter.
