* The Dougherty's of Kentucky Family Home Page*

Updated September 5, 2000

Our family roots reach back to early Colonial America with the majority of the families settling in the Colonies in the late 1600's and early 1700's. First arriving in Pennsylvania and Maryland the families branched out to settle in Virginia and into Kentucky eventually ending up in Missouri in the early 1800's. Family names include Brosseur, Brown, Cheney, Chick, Cooper, Dana, D'Argent, Donahoe, Dougherty, Duvall, Findlay, Fulton, Gentry, Hertzog, Holmes, Ijams, Moore, Peck, Smith, Simpson, Soister, Tyler, Williams, and Wilt to name a few.
I am currently trying to find infomation on Charles F. Ruff who married Annie Dougherty from Missouri and moved to Philadelphia in the 1850's. Annie was the eldest daughter of my g-g-great grandparents, Major John Dougherty and his wife Mary Hertzog Dougherty. Annie was born in the Nebraska Territory 1824 and was the first "white" child to be born in the Territory. Her father Major John was an Indian Agent for the Department of Indian Affairs. Annie and Charles had four children and I am looking for their descendents.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
