| I have been researching the Domenico Barone Family from Morrone del Sannio, Campobasso,Italy and the August Herzog Family From Germany. It has taken 6 Years to get the information I have so far. Big THANKS to the family friend of a second cousin we were able to get information, Direct from Italy. Big thanks to all the family members who tried hard to give me as much information as they could. The hardest however is the Herzog's. Not knowing names or dates of birth or death is like being between a rock and a hard place. When I started this I was asked WHY? There are several answers... For the love of my other mom Aunt Marie. It was something she has always wanted to do, but did not know how or where to start and to pay her back for all the unconditional love and support she has shown me through the years and still does. I love you Aunt Marie. It was also the closed mouths. No one ever spoke of family and when they did it was stories. I wanted to know my family. I want my kids to know their family. To me Family is the most important beings in your life. Family history is wonderful and nothing to be ashamed of. It's true stories that are the most interesting. Through truth I have the greatest understanding and upmost respect and love for my family. We all want what is best for our children. We want a better life for them then the one we had. We will succeed Just like Domenico succeeded. He left his wife and child behind, in search of a better life. A life safe from sickness and poverty, but most of all for FREEDOM! Not being able to read and write Italian, let known speak English. He headed for the USA in search of his dreams.The same goes for August Herzog Sr he left Germany with his wife in search of a better life. What a shame I have such trouble finding them and any other children they may have had, besides my Greatgrandfather. |
