| I am researching the MCMANAMAN family from Isabella County, Michigan. My ancestors emigrated from Ireland to Canada and eventually to the USA - Michigan. I can trace the family back as far as Edward McManaman, my great-great grandfather, who first appears in church records of St. Gregory Catholic Church in Picton, Ontario in 1843. Edward McManaman first married Ellen Hickey. Ellen died at home 3 Aug 1846. Edward and Ellen had two children: Michael b. 31 Aug 1843, and Mary b. 20 Sep 1844. Unable to determine what happened to Michael. I believe that Mary married Joseph O'Melia but have not been able to prove it. Edward then married Margaret Dunden 20 Nov 1849 at St Gregory Catholic Church in Picton, Ontario. Margaret was born in County Clare, Ireland. She was the daughter of Thomas Dunden and Catherine Healy (per the church marriage records of St. Gregory Catholic). Edward and Margaret had six children: Thomas (my great-grandfather) b. 5 Nov 1850, James b. 22 Nov 1852, Katherine b. Abt 1857, Ann b. 1 Apr 1858, Edward (your Theresa's ancestor) b. 6 Aug 1861, and Margaret (Maggie) b. Abt 1864. Thomas married Bridget Radey and moved to Michigan. They had 11 children (one of which was my grandfather Francis Leo). James moved to Michigan and married Mary Jane Boyd. They had 6 children. Katherine stayed in Ontario and married Michael Heenan. She lived in Toronto at the time of her mother’s death. Unable to determine if she had children. Ann stayed in Ontario and married William Dunlay. They had one child. Edward stayed in Ontario and married Theresa O’Carroll. They had four children. Maggie stayed in Ontario as she was there at the time of brother Edward’s death. Unable to determine if she ever married or had children. Any assistance in connecting these family members to any other McManaman's in Canada or Ireland would be greatly appreciated! |
