| We have been exploring our beginnings and have found that the Froese family roots come from Prussia and has now grown to quite a large entity. Theodor Franz Froese was the son of Ferdinand Froese and Henrietta Mortiz from Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Theodor married Ernestine Abt in Gelsenkirchen, Germany and they had 4 living children (Herman, Marie, Lena, and Ernest). After Ernestine's death, Theodor married Ernestine's sister, Maria Rosina Abt, also in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Rosina had 6 living children (Martha, Karl, Paul, Clara, Arthur, and Hilda). Upon arriving in America, Theodor settled in Belleville, Illinois where he and Rosina raised the 10 children. This Froese family is largely located in Canada and Illinois but you will also find us in Texas, Arkansas, Nebraska, California, South Carolina, and Indiana. We know Theodor had one brother who preceeded him to America. His name is Otto. |
