The Chaloner clan began with Prince Madoc Kryme of Wales, a Christian, who had to leave his country to
avoid persecution as the people did not want a christian ruler. He escaped to France and settled in the town of Chaloner, which is located near the Saone River. There he changed his name to Chaloner, and in the year 1066, went to England with William the Conqueror. Eventually, a Chaloner married a French woman and migrated to the Americas on the Mayflower. During the 19th century they settled in Madison County in the State of Montana.

William Howard Chaloner married Susan Spangler. He drowned in the Madison River on June 21, 1874. His body was found two days later and was buried in Evens Cemetery. He was survived by his wife and three children, namily:Mary Montana, William "Bill"Howard, and John Charles. After William died, Susuan Spangler married William Evans. They had four children, namely: Ada Evans Thorton of Olympia, Washington; Carrie Evans Davis of Greybull, Wyoming; Joseph Evens of Ennis, Montana;. and Noah Evans from San Franscico, California They went to lived in Montana what is still known as the Evans Homestead.

John Charles Chaloner was born in Ennis, Montana. He served in the Spanish-American War and was stationed in the Philippines, where he met and married Matilde Valdehueza in Tagoloan but had to move to Ozamis when John was still in the U.S. Army. They had five daughters, namely: Adah Susan, Carrie Mary, Florence Dolores, Nena Ann, and Matilde Rafaela. After retiring from the army, they moved back to Tagoloan but John Managed a ranch in Diklum, Bukidnon. Now known as Camp Philips. Later, he would move the ranch to Alae where the daughters of Lolita Barros settled. The ranch would finally be moved to Taguiptip, Sante Fe, Bukidnon.

While John was managing the ranch, known as KD Ranch, in Bukidnon, Matilde remained in Tagoloan. On weekends, John would visit the family in Tagoloan or the family would spend time in the ranch. The girls were all taught to ride horses, rope and brand cows whenever they were not attending school.

After World War 2, he gave up the ranch and settled in Cagayan de Oro City until his death in 1953 at the age of 80. He was the last of his line to carry the Chaloner name. Adah, Florence and Matilde have since died, leaving Carrie and Nena as the only survivors of the family.

The first known Chaloner in history is a priest in France. It is not known for sure if he was Madoc Kryme. As of this writing, several genealogical charts are being compiled to trace our lineage back to Madoc Kryme, as well as, to incorporate the names of the Valdehueza-Chaloner descendants to the present day into the family tree

Notes:
On TheValdehuesa side we are descendants of a Muslim Prince.

John Chaloner is the first American to fly the American flag over the Philippines during the Spanish American War.
