The Swayne/Swain and Delaney Families of Blytheville, AR.

Updated March 10, 2007

***
I'm researching two families from Blytheville, AR.

Amos Swayne first appears on the 1850 Mississippi Co., AR. census with his wife Angeline Barbee and six children. Amos was born in Penn. or NY. in the year 1808 and Angeline was born in Kentucky in the year 1818. Their first four children were born in Crawford Co.,Illinois. They then had six children born in Arkansas. These are their names; Oscar, Mahabeth (not sure of spelling it is hard to make out on the census), Julia A., Aaron, Amanda, Isaac, Elzira, Mary, Lavina and Candis. Most of the Swayne descendants ended up using Swain.

I'm also researching Joseph "Joe" Frank Delaney and Annie A. Kimbrough who married August 12, 1894 in Lake Co., Tennessee. Joe was born in Tennessee in the year 1868 and Annie was born in Arkansas in the year 1870. They had the following children: Elisha P., John H., Thadious "Thad", Felix, Tollie F. "Toll", and Kathleen "Kathrine". Joseph and Annie lived in Ripley and Dyersburg, TN. before moving to Blytheville. They both died between 1913 when Kathrine was born and the 1920 census. On the 1920 census Tollie is the head of the house hold. All the children are still at home except the older brother John who is married and living next door.
