"Dr. Elton was born Dec. 1880, son of George A. Elton and Lucy Charlotte Pyle (aunt of Nannie who married Floyd Lay). It is told that he was working in the field while a young man and decided that there had to be an easier way to live and that he wanted to be a physician. With the help of a friend, George W. Wickersham, he obtained his schooling and did post graduate work in New Orleans and overseas. Upon finishing school, he returned home and started practice with Dr. Shelby Lay and married his daughter Maude. A few years later, he moved to Yellville and then to New Port, AR, where together with a Dr. Harris, he established a hospital and worked there until his death. He was so short of stature that he had to stand on a box to reach the operating table. He gained national recognition as physician and surgeon."

Notes for J
AMES FRANKLIN YOUNGER:
The following excerpted from "Boone County Historian" - Vol. XII - No. 1 - 1989 - page 151:

"The following two paragraphs were sent by Jay P. Younger of Santa Maria, CA, about his grandfather, James Franklin, the son of Alexander and Lucinda.

'He preferred to be called "Frank," and that was his name all his life. He was born on a farm near St. Joe, Searcy County, Arkansas on February 7, 1855. He was, no doubt, raised on his father's farm in St. Joe. At the age of nineteen he married an eighteen-year-old half-Cherokee girl name Elizabeth Samantha Begley on September 4, 1874. Frank farmed and they had twelve children, three sons, and nine daughters. Frank became quite religious in his later years, and would take his Bible and leave the farm for weeks at a time to evangelize about the country in the name of the Church of Christ. At some time, at a religious camp meeting, he got into an argument with a man, and this man picked up a rock and hit Frank on the head. He was unconscious for many days, and he was not expected to survive until a dark bearded man came by and hypnotized him and brought him out of his coma. Frank had to have a silver plate put on his head to protect the crushed skull. After this incident, Frank became interested in hypnotism. The dark bearded man, which Elizabeth called a devil, taught Frank hypnotism, and he became quite good at it. It came in handy in converting the heathens into Christianity. However his wife, Elizabeth, thought he was possessed by the devil, and would not have anything to do with him for the rest of her life.

'Franklin and brother Charles, and their families all moved from Arkansas into the new state of Oklahoma after the turn of the century. Frank and his family settled in the little town of Byars,( McClain County) Oklahoma where he farmed until all the children were grown and married. In later years, Elizabeth became so frightened by Frank's powers of hypnotism that she left him and lived with friends in Depew, OK, until she died on November 7, 1916. Frank died about four months later heart broken that Elizabeth would not allow him to come and see her before she died. Frank died at the home of one of his children in Shawnee, OK, on March 11, 1917. He was buried at the Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee, Lot 51, Block 6, Grave 2.' "

Note: Another source put his burial plot at the Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee, block 6A row 27 south to north grave 13.

Note: Many of Frank and Elizabeth's children and their families went to Oklahoma and Texas, according to the "Boone County Historian."
