* The De Lucia/Maranino Family*

Updated September 6, 2000

My wife, Carol (Maranino) and I are originally from the Morris Park section of the Bronx. My father and mother came from Santa Maria a Vico and Benevento Italy as did my aunts and uncles. They came to live in the Beautiful Bronx, met and got married at the height of the depression. My wifes grandparents came to America from Avelino and Fugia Italy and settled in Italian East Harlem. It was in East Harlem my mother and father-in-law met and got married after my father-in-law returned from the war . As was the norm for Italian families here- and on "the other side", there were always lots of aunts,uncles and cousins.
Our parents and grandparents are now gone but customs and culture have kept us together as a family- an American family, that understands where we came from. Still, I am sure that there are distant cousins and friends of our parents who we lost touch with and perhaps don't even know about.
I still have relatives in Italy. My Aunt lives in Santa Maria a Vico and have cousins living in Maddalonia, Rome and Bologna. We keep in touch with them and exchange visits when it is possible. It would be wonderful to be able to add to the story of the De Lucia's and the Maranino's. If you can possibly add to that story or I to yours, send an E-mail me. I think we are a great subject!
