* NAHAOLELUA of Hawaii*

Updated March 13, 2004

This is the compiled history of the Hawaiian NAHAOLELUAs of Maui .
I have researched back to about 1870 in Hawaii, beginnning with Paul Nahaolelua, Governor of Maui, and his wife Helekunihi. Their adopted son Kia, nephew of Helekunihi, married Elizabeth St. John, who I have traced back several more generations. They had nine children, including my great grandfather, George William Kia. George, a music teacher and performer, taught ukulele lessons in Los Angeles, and performed at recitals with his students as early as 1914. He authored several instruction and music books. He married Madeline DAVIES, of Brooklyn, NY. She was an actress. They had two children, George William and Henrietta.

This is only one branch of the tree. Others include the Scottish Faulds/Bathgate/McNabs, the Italian MURO/GRECO/BARBETTA/DELEO and the German LEMBERG branches.

Other names include ST. JOHN, DAVIES/DAVIS, BATHGATE, MCNAB (MACNAB), YOUNG, FAULDS, BARBETTA, MURO, GRECO, DELEO, LEMBERG.
