William David² DeMasters (___¹) (Source: Campbell, Jackie, "Electronic," ...received a copy of a letter to my Aunt from William David's son Clarence that his Dad's middle name was Marvin not David...) was born 17 Dec 1861 in Lafayette Co, MO (Source: Campbell, Jackie, "Electronic," death certificate My aunt thinks they both (his father) were born in Missouri according to family lore!), and died 21 Jul 1939 in Jackson, OR (Source: Campbell, Jackie, "Electronic."). He married Lillian (Lillie) Trent 29 Nov 1892 in Lafayette Co, MO (Source: Campbell, Jackie, "Electronic," Missouri Marriages 1851-1900 (FTM CD).), daughter of John Trent and Elizabeth Carpenter.

Notes for William David DeMasters:
Another phone call from my aunt and a possible lead on where to look for Great, Great Grandfather ? Demasters. My aunt believes William DeMasters father died when William was just four or five during the Civil War. William was born in 1861 so that would be about 1865 or 1866 when his father died.

She wasn't sure if he was fighting in the war or if he was defending his land. I'm looking though all Chuck's notes but haven't come across anyone who died
during the war about 1865. My aunt also said she thought someone had found
him on the 1860 or 1870 census but can't find the copy she was sent.
