This home page is dedicated to four objectives as follows: 1) What is our "real" last name ? 2) Where in Europe did our ancester come from ? 3) To continue to build on our already extensive family tree. 4) Assist others in adding to their DeMone family tree.
Frantz Joseph ? (DeMone) sailed down the Rhine River in 1751 and then on to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada on the sailing ship "Gale". In 1753, he settled in Lunenburg. Upon his arrival in Halifax he had given his occupation as a stocking weaver and his age at 31. When asked where he had come from he replied Switzerland. This does not necessarily mean that he was Swiss.
We (my 1st cousin Gary DeMone and I)have an actual copy of his signature, and his 1st and 2nd names are clear. However, we are not able to make out his surname, it starts "Tim". Could be Timming or Timminy or Timmung or Timmuny or any number of other names. He, his wife Catherine Suzanna Herman, and their children were known by many surnames. This is due to Frantz and Suzanna, baptising their children with different surnames. They were: Timon, Dumont, Tyman, Demon, Dimon, and Timmon.
Wilhelm Carl(known as Charles) was the 12th child of Frantz and Suzanna, and not the son of one of their other sons, as listed with the LDS and others. We have his original and probated wills.
We are the grandsons of William Albert of James Nicholas of Heinrich Franz of Wilhelm Carl of Frantz Joseph.
We would love to add you to the 4000 persons now on the tree. Please contact David via email or phone or fax as listed on this home page.
