Notes for Aert Symonz De Hart:
Aert de Hart was born 1607 in North Holland which is where he married Gerritzen Stoffles, a widow, on December 18, 1639. They had Symon, Symon, Lysbeth, and Dorite. Their baptismal dates are listed on the family page. The Source: Kenmork 9336/NK; Central Bureau voor Genealogy is Gravenhage, Holland. The HagueNetherland.\\

As far as a coat of arms there were four from different areas. Ours was simply a silver shield with three red hearts. It originated in Hoorn, Holland in the 18th century. Our earliest records are found in Holland.

There was another group of DeHart's unrelated to ours. They came from a line people refer to as the Balthazer line. This second group lived in Stanton Island, New York and came from Gelderland, Holland. I mention this only to state these two lines were distinct and not directly related.

Another interesting fact is that Hart's and DeHart's are said to be the same stock. For example, the Reinhardts in Germany indicated what area they were from. Also, the DeHart name originated from their location. Being of or from Hart. There were two villages in the Netherlands and one in France being of that name. As I said before, I feel that the Netherland connection is more likely than France in that no solid proof has been found to date.

I have researched my DeHart family for many years. In doing so I have discovered many lines of DeHart's as well as, allied families. All of which are very interesting. Allied families of the early DeHart's are the following: Stoffles, Cornelissen, Lane/Vanpelt, Smith/Lambersen, Willyard, and Van Dyck.

If one uses the Dutch naming patterns it would indicate to me that Aert Symonz father would be Symon. In that his name was Aert being son of Symon. However, do not have any proof to his parentage. Some feel the ancestors came from France however, I have not found anything to indicate that. Also, many feel they were Huguenot's. However, after contacting the Huguenot Society they don't accept our ancestor as a Huguenot due to lack of church documentation.

I want to thank my family and friends for their support. They know who they are. To avoid privacy issues for them or their families, their names have been omitted. The information is written in loving memory of our DeHart's that passed before us.

In compiling notes from various sources I made every attempt to document where information on vital statistics was found on each family page. Also, listed other sources on the individual's note page for further information on that person or for general interest.

Though every attempt was made to verify information if, in doubt check sources and do further research to confirm for yourself. If, you find something not to be true then, please contact me so I can make corrections if possible. I stated my thoughts as theories and opinions when indicated.

It is my sincere hope that information given will be of some help to those researching DeHart's and allied families.

Good luck in your search!
