Hi! Canada Harbour is on the Great Northern Peninsular of Newfoundland (part of the historic French Shore), Canada. I am interested in researching the history of Canada Harbour and its people: Dempsey, Clarke, Hynes, Edgar, Reeves, Ballot, Dooley, Cooney, Randal, Stuckless, Macdonald and Breen. Of particular interest is my Great-grandfather, James Dempsey who arrived on the French Shore in the 1840's, and may have come from St. John's, Newfoundland, or directly from Ireland. He married Ellen Simmonds of Conche (interested in the Simmonds family as well).I am also interested in any stories or historical facts on Canada Harbour. It was used by the French as a "fishing station" in the 18th and 19th centuries.
