1. GEORGE¹ RUTH was born Bet. 1715 - 1716 in The Palatinate (Der Pfaltz), Germany, and died October 1786 in PA. He married ANNA MARIA. She died in PA.

Notes for GEORGE RUTH:
"In 1741 he left his home in Oberalben, County of Kusel and at Rotterdam, Holland, boarded the English ship 'Marlborough,' commanded by Cap't. Thomas Bell. They arrived at the Port of Philadelphia on Sept. 23, 1741. On the several lists of names involving his coming, his name is variously spelled as Jeare, Georg and George R> Ruth, age 26 yrs. (see Rupp's "30,000 Names of German Immigrants to Pennsylvania" and "Penna. Archives," Series 11, Vol. 17., also the MSS "The Ruth Family" by John A. Ruth). He took his Oath of Allegiance to the British Crown upon arrival.

"On Oct 4, 1744, the Proprietaries of Pennsylvania granted him a warrant of survey for 113 acres in Springfield Township, Bucks County, in the area known as "Slifer Valley.".... For unknown reason, George vacated this tract and returned it to the Proprietaries on Apr. 12, 1752......

" According to family tradition, George, with his family moved to an adjoining tract where he lived till the time of his death in 1787, at which time ownership passed to his son, Peter, consisting of 100 acres. This was probably a combination of three parcels which the Proprietaries granted to him as follows: 50 acres on Oct. 4, 1744, 30 acres on July 4, 1747 and 20 acres on Mar. 7, 1749."

! "Eighteenth Century Emigrants, Vol. II: The Western Palatinate" by Annette Kunselman Burgert, 1986, lists him as Johann Georg Ruth, age 26, occupation, tailor, and gives his wife's name and the name of two of his three children.
