Henry Denison, born 1810 in Sheffield, England, married Jane Wholey of Gainsborough, England (b.1809).They immigrated to the U.S. sometime before 1838 since their oldest child, James Wholey Denison, Sr. was born in Albany, NY in 1838. Their 2nd child was born in Illinois and the 3rd in St. Louis.The moved to Louisville between 1840 and 1845 since their 4th child was born in 1845 in Louisville, KY. James W. Denison, Sr. married Irene Carnes (also spelled Kerns, Karnes) of Washington County, IN.They were married in 1862 in New Albany.Irene is the daughter of Peter Carnes and Hannah Blackman Carnes.Peter was born in Washington County, IN, but his parents Leonard Kerns, Jr. and Katherine Doerner moved to Washington County from the old Rowan County, NC between 1806 and 1810. The first Mivelaz's immigrated from Fribourg, Switzerland around 1850 and settled in Floyd County, IN and later in Louisville, KY.Some of the Mivelaz's then moved to Memphis, TN, Little Rock and Ft. Smith, AR, and also to Texas. The Brinley's originated in Pennsylvania and relocated in Louisville, KYin the mid to late 1700's.Some then crossed the Ohio River into Harrison County, IN.
