Notes for S
AMUEL RIDGEWAY:
When we look at later evidence, perhaps Samuel Ridgeway was Samuel Thomas Ridgeway, as William Alexander Ridgeway states that his name was Thomas. Samuel died 1781 in Goochland County, Va. at 71 years of age.
He married Phoebe Seay in Cumberland Co., VA. on May 01, 1751 with surety being Samuel Ridgeway and Jacob Moseley. The relationship between Samuel Ridgeway and Dr. Ridgeway is a tenuous one which has not been proven, however, the reasoning behind the belief is logical. A George Gilmer, son of William Gilmer was born in Edinburg, Scotland in 1700. He studied medicine with Dr. Ridgeway. Dr. Gilmer married Dr. Ridgeway's daughter. Dr. Ridgeway had practiced in London. Dr. Gilmer came to Virginia in 1731 and took up residence in Williamsburg, VA. where he practiced medicine, managed the affairs of a land company and ultimately became the mayor of Williamsburg. He plied the triple vocations of physican, surgeon, and druggist. The Raleigh Tavern of Williamsburg was first built by Dr. Archibald Blair, brother of Commissary James Blair before 1735. Dr. Blair wife was Sarah "...late wife of Mr. Bartho. Fowler deceased attorney of this coloney."Dr. Blair died in 1736 and Dr. Gilmer bought the Tavern in 1752 for 700 pounds of Virginia currency. Dr. Gilmer's wife died ( the daughter of Dr. Ridgeway) and Dr. Gilmer married a second time to Mary Peachy Walker, daughter of Dr. Thomas Walker of Albermarle, the explorer. By her he had two son's, Peachy Ridgeway Gilmer and George Gilmer, Jr.Peachy ridgeway Gilmer was the Grandfather of George R. Gilmer, Governor of Georgia. The other son Dr. George Gilmer. Jr. was a student at William and Mary Colledge and studied medicine under his uncle, Dr. Thomas Walker, the celebrated traveler and explorer. He went to Eldinburg, Scotland where he graduated in 1761. He practiced in Williamsburg and kept a drug store with a John Minson Gait. He moved to Albermale Co., VA. and when the Revolutionary War broke out was very active in military matters. He was a intimate friend of Thomas Jefferson and in 1774, represented Albermarle Co,. VA. in the house of Burgesses. In 1775 he was an alternate of Thomas Jefferson in the convention met in Williamsburg. Dr. George Gilmer died January 7, 1758. Dr. George Gilmer,Jr. married his cousin, Lucy Walker, daughter of Dr. Thomas Walker and had 10 children.
Samuel Ridgeway recieved several land grants in Virginia between 1738 and 1762 for land in Goochland Co, of 1000 and 2555 acres in Buckingham Co., VA. Samuel Ridgeway lived on Willis Creek, a tributary on the South side of the James River in what is now known as Buckingham Co., VA.

Notes for E
LIZABETH WOODSON:
Elizabeth Woodson only lived two years after her marriage to Samuel Ridgeway, as he married Mary Bellamy on July 1, 1742

Notes for M
ARY BELLOMY:
Mary died about 1850. It is believed that Mary Bellomy may have been the oldest daughter of John Bellomy and his wife Mary who came from England to the Virginia Colony sometime between 1705-1712. John Bellomy's passage was paid for by Dorthy Pleasents who recieved approximately 50 acres of Virginia land for importing John Bellomy and nine others persons. John then worked on the Plesant Plantion to repay for his passage money. Dorthy Pleasant's Plantation was next to that of John Woodson . John Woodson and his brothers had recieved a patent for land in Henrico Co., Va.(now considered Goochland Co.) We find John Bellomy buying 120 acres of land referred to as Dover bounded by Indian Creek, from Benjamin Woodson on March 3, 1717. John Bellomy had another daughter, Judith and a son John who was a minor at the time of John Bellomy's death, August 5, 1729. John Bellomy II, the minor son did not particate in the administration of his father's will written March 25, 1729. John Bellomy II, the minor son his inherited land on June 19, 1732, thus he had become 21 years of age.
