My Raleigh County, West Virginia, FamiliesUpdated December 11, 2000 |
ATHA - WILLIAMS DICKENS - TURNER CREED My maternal ancestors settled in Raleigh County, West Virginia. The Dickens family was in current-day Raleigh County when it was part of Logan County. The Williams family settled in the area prior to 1840. The Turners came to the county about 1857. The Atha family moved to Raleigh County after the Civil War. I am interested in exchanging information on the Atha, Dickens, Hendricks/Hendrix, Turner, Williams, and Wiseman families of Raleigh County. I also collect information on families who were in the first census taken of Raleigh County in 1850. If you descend from one of the early families of Raleigh County, I'd love to hear from you. My Creed family moved from Tazewell County, Virginia, to Raleigh County, West Virginia, in the early 1920's. They can be found in Surry and Wilkes Counties of North Carolina, and prior to that in Orange County, Virginia. Nyla |
