Joseph Eakins I of New Hanover County, NC Family Home Page

I am trying to organize information about the family of Joseph Eakins I. He first appeared on the New Hanover County, NC census in 1790. He was born in Ireland according to that census but we do not know when he came to this country and from where he came in Ireland.

Joseph married Elizabeth Pigford. They had six children; John Sr., Sarah, Joseph II, William, Deborah and Andrew. The three oldest children remained in North Carolina while the three youngest went to Lauderdale County, Mississippi.

My goal is to put together all of the information contributed from several family members and fill out all the branches of our family tree. I want to have this information at a central location, available to all. I am also still trying to find when Joseph I came to this country and from where he came in Ireland.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. I am willing to share anything that I can to help others.
