| Ancestry:mother - Czech or Slovak paternal grandmother - Norwegian, from Sortland paternal grandfather - primarily English, with numerous lines traced to the "Great Migration" of the 1630s Particularly searching for information on William Gurrier, who first appears on the muster rolls of regiment of Pennsylvania Loyalists (as "Greer"), rising to the rank of seargent (at which time his company consisted of 2 officers, 1 seargent and 3 privates). After the Revolution, he settled with other Loyalists in New Brunswick, where he and his wife Catarina Moor had children William, Michael, Sarah, Mary, Hannah and Catherine. William Sr. died at Southampton, NB in 1828. |
